While at Assateague Island earlier this week I noticed this crab as he walked across the sand dunes. He would stop every so often and begin to dig a hole to hide in. If the sand was to dry and the hole caved in then he would continue up the sand dune and try again. He did this several times before the sand was to his liking and then he dug in earnest until his burrow was complete. I enjoyed watching his sideways movement up the sand dune. I think the tracks that he made along the way were interesting as well. The crab and the tracks tell a story and thats what I like about these images. Its important to stop and notice little things, to understand that there are many stories that mother nature has to tell us. This crabs story is about a journey of persistence, tenacity, perseverance and survival. Nikon D300s, Nikon 70-300mm, f18, 1/160, ISO 400
