Whilst we bash SUBAH and we must continue to bash it, may we also - TopicsExpress

Whilst we bash SUBAH and we must continue to bash it, may we also be minded that we do NEED to monitor the revenues that the telcos are declaring to government? I cannot bring my self to understand why since the passage of the Communications Service Tax Act (CST) on March 28, 2008, the 6% charge to users of communication services is accounted for SOLELY by the Telcos to the Value Added Tax Service that administers and collects the tax later to pay into the Consolidated Fund. This is what I refer to the vision less spine that accompanies a policy, a law if you like. Our checks are showing that the telcos paid almost near to nothing in the first year the Communications Service Tax Act was passed. We are still cross checking. And of course, if I were the telcos, why should I care once the burden of proof and accounting is solely mine. Pitiful. More pitiful is the use to which later payments of the CST by the telcos was used by government, essentially to create, loot and share GYEEDA money. Folks either way, you the ordinary man seems to have been screwed by the either party to this whole vision less Communications Service Tax Act ..... This has always been Imanis beef with policy formulation in this country. Glorified Policy Illogicality! Bright Simons Kofi B Bentil Kofi Blankson Ocansey Aboagye T.
