White Man’s Religion (By Wesley Muhammad, PhD) It is a fact - TopicsExpress

White Man’s Religion (By Wesley Muhammad, PhD) It is a fact that, when the European missionaries began their work in the 19th century in Southern Africa the White Christians tried to sale their religion to the Zulu and the Xhosa as a religion specifically granted to White people to be used to “extend civilization” – through White paternalistic authority - among the Black natives. The missionary Samuel Young noted in 1842: “Many (of the African natives) were anxious to know how it was that the word of salvation, which was (supposedly) designed for all people…should have been detained for so long amongst the white people…” The missionary William Shaw recorded a similar sentiment, describing the objections of an African from the Mbashe River: “ ‘If,’ said (the African) …’what you say be true, then our forefathers are most likely gone to that place of torment which you speak of, for they lived exactly as we do. Now what is the reason the Great God did not send missionaries here a long time ago, that our forefathers might have heard the great word?’” Shaw replies: “I was obliged, painfully obliged, to reply: ‘God was pleased to give his Gospel to the white man first, and in his word he commanded them to preach it to all nations; but for many hundred years they had disobeyed and neglected this command.” The Gospel of the White Man, to which the missionaries called the Africans, required the African to surrender his Black REAL God for a White SPOOK god of that Christianity. The God of the Zulus, for example, called Unkulunkulu, was literally a Black man who had a wife and who physically died long ago and is thus the Greatest Ancestor, and current Africans are his/their blood descendants. The Christians called us to reject such God for their White ‘Son of God’ who, though a man, was totally other-worldly and in heaven. The African wasn’t comprehending this spooky man-god. The brother Unjan – who seems to be getting caught up – said to the missionary Callaway: “We (Africans) have NOW heard from YOU that the Lord which is in heaven is he who made everything. The [Elders of our people] said [however] that Unkulunkulu was an ancestor and nothing more, an ancient man who begat men, and gave origin to all things (emphasis mine – WM).” THAT is that good ‘ol African religion. Regarding the spooky Lord in heaven, the people insisted: “What sort of being He (this God of whom you speak, i.e. Jesus) was? whether He had a wife? Whether He had cattle? How many, and of what kind they were?” God is REAL. While trying to turn the African toward a heavenly White Lord and away from their real, Black God, the whites were teaching the African to hate himself and his Blackness. One Zulu informant said to Callaway: “When we were with the Dutch they did not tell us that there is a Lord above; but they said that we black people should be burnt; and that we have no spirit, but are like a dog, which has no spirit.” Most of our people for a long time rejected the spooky, White Supremacist Christian message, saying ‘Maka haila’ “only lies” (i.e. the Tswana). Indeed, the White Man’s Gospel and its god is Maka Haila.
