“White people won." Someone said this to me once about white privilege, and it’s always stuck. They described it as a historical eventuality. Because white people won, their way of thinking saturated the earth, and thus, everything became, and is, about whiteness. Everything is inflected, thought through, measured, and indexed through whiteness. Because white people live in this world, it’s harder for us to see. That’s how privilege works. When we envision corporate success, we envision white, male, upper-class. We de facto envision white success. But the corporate world is often critiqued, so this clip about the non-profit industrial complex is more interesting, because it hits closer to home. I hope it sparks increased dialogue about the structural racism I’m a part of: wypr.org/category/podcast-keywords/nonprofit-industrial-complex
