Who do we pray to, The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit? We have been taught to pray by Yahushua as in Matthew 6:9 Matthew6:9-13 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amein. We should pray to the Father in the name of Yahushua and by the power of the Holy Spirit. John 14:6 Yahushua saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. We cannot come directly to the Father without going through Yahushua the Son. He is our Advocate and intercessor. Sometimes when we do not know what to pray for or how to pray, we ask the Holy Spirit for help and assistance. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of יהוה. Jude 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, Jude 21 Keep yourselves in the love of Elohim, looking for the mercy of our Master Yahushua the Messiah unto eternal life. There are believers in Yahushua who believed this is the only way to pray and no other way is right. They believed that you cannot pray directly to the Holy Spirit. I would agree with them if you pray directly to the Holy Spirit for all your prayers. This is not in synchronization with the scriptures. However, in certain instances like praying directly to the Holy Spirit and asking him to open our eyes to the understanding of the Word is not wrong and neither is it a sin. John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. After the resurrection and ascension of Yahushua to heaven,YHWH send the Holy Spirit to us, to assist and teach us the Word of Elohim. If we have any doubts or do not understand His Word, we can pray directly to the Holy Spirit and ask for understanding. He was send to us to be our teacher by YHWH and he is in us. 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of יהוה, and ye are not your own? We need to talk to the Holy Spirit and have fellowship with him. We cannot simply ignore him as though he does not exist. Without his power we would not be able to overcome the many obstacles in life. We know we worship YHWH the Father, Yahushua the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are not three but one entity. For instance, the Bible contains numerous clear statements regarding the unity of Elohim : Deuteronomy 6:4 tells us that the YHWH is one. 1 Corinthians 8:4 adds that there is no Elohim but one. 1 Timothy 2:5 explicitly says there is one Elohim . Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: יהוה is our Elohim, יהוה is one: 1 Corinthians 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other Elohim but one. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one Elohim, and one mediator between Elohim and men, the man Yahushua the Messiah; When we pray directly to the Holy Spirit in certain matters, we are also praying to YHWH. for the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of YHWH Elohim, send to us in place of Yahushua, to be our teacher, guide and Comforter. Sometimes, we pray to Yahushua and sometimes we pray to YHWH in Yahshuas name and other times we pray to the Holy Spirit. As long as you pray only to YHWH, Yahushua or the Holy Spirit and not other gods you will not incur the wrath of YHWH. It is a matter of choice, preference and conviction in how you want to pray to YHWH.
