Why do we eat our own? I have a friend who is Native American. He went to college, received his degree, has a wonderful family, and is quite successful in his professional life. We were talking one day and he said, “My Native American friends called me ‘Apple’ growing up. ‘Red on the outside, white on the inside.’ Just because I was serious about my education and I had friends who were white. I didn’t understand how my own people could be so cruel.” Those within the African-American community feel the same attacks. Ask Tim Scott, Ben Carson, Thomas Sowell, Star Parker, and thousands of others about the hate shown them simply because they embrace conservative values or disagree with the liberal narrative. “Uncle Tom”, “House Ni**er”, on and on. You should read some of their accounts of the hate that spews from their own ethnic group. They experience an especially harsh verbal flogging if they happen to bring up the fact that an African-American should be more fearful of a fellow African-American than of a white person. While growing up in the 1970’s, my best friend was black. I didn’t know Herman was black. But some of my white friends did and they let me know about it. I remember some chastisement from them because I was friends with “Darky”. Even today, I’ve had white people “unfriend” me or send me disparaging emails because I don’t embrace the divisive teaching of “white privilege” because I believe there is a confusion of unequal outcomes with unequal opportunities. “You’re just misinformed”; “Check your privilege”. I’m with Ben Watson on all of this: “Ultimately the problem is not a SKIN problem, it is a SIN problem. SIN is the reason we rebel against authority. SIN is the reason we are racist, prejudiced and lie to cover for our own. SIN is the reason we riot, loot and burn. But I’m encouraged because God has provided a solution for sin through his son Jesus and with it, a transformed heart and mind.” Only Jesus is the solution against the hatred among us and within us.
