William Morris Sampler Queen Size Quilt – Flimsy 87” x 114” Designers Pam & Nicky Lintott This monster of a quilt has been built using 16” blocks and 3” sashing with cornerstones. The blocks are mostly from a fabulous book, Jelly Roll Sampler Quilts, and also some patterns I found elsewhere. They have been made over the past year, teaching me new techniques, and finally I found the inspiration to put them into a quilt. This week I spent countless hours and sleepless nights figuring out how to add the sashing, doing lots of math and sketching out dimensions. I couldn’t find any tutorials online that dealt specifically with on-point sashing with star cornerstones, not one, so I had to take what I could from the net, and use my initiative to get it all to work. In the end, I prevailed, after only a couple of pieces of reverse stitching, and it all came together as envisaged. The outside stars turned into arrows pointing away from the quilt, a happy little accident. I don’t usually share my flimsies, but am just so excited to have finally built this one that I wanted to show you all. It should be quilted with loads of feathers this time next week and I’ll take more detailed photos. I might keep this one, it’s gorgeous. Thanks for looking
