Indeed, no books published since 2000 made it into the top 10. What would you put on your best loved American childrens books? To be fair, they have to be written by Americans - - - so that nixes everything on this list plus Harry Potter. Top of my US list? The Lorax, Where the Wild Things Are, and Charlottes Web.
