Winter weather in Denver is quickly approaching. There are three critical things that you need to do to prepare your roof for the cold months. Using binolulars, Inspect your roof from the curb. Take note of curled shingles, and missing shingles. Blackened areas can mean cracked shingles. Check trim and flashing around the chimney. If any cracks or missing flashing is noted, repairs need to be made immediately. Gutters filled with leaves and debris can cause numerous problems as well. A clogged gutter can create an ice dam which will force moisture under the roofing material and create leaks. Lastly walk around the inside of your home checking the ceilings for water stains or discolorations that can signal a rooof leak.
