Without Complete Obedience There Will Be No Revival Without complete obedience unto God there will be no Revival. As long as we keep asking the question why---- we will never experience the move of God that we need. Scripture: 1 Sam 15:22-23 22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. The Living Bible Translation: 1 Sam 15:22-24 22 Samuel replied, Has the Lord as much pleasure in your burnt offerings and sacrifices as in your obedience? Obedience is far better than sacrifice. He is much more interested in your listening to him than in your offering the fat of rams to him. 23 For rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as bad as worshiping idols. And now because you have rejected the word of Jehovah, he has rejected you from being king. 24 I have sinned, Saul finally admitted. Yes, I have disobeyed your instructions and the command of the Lord, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded. Disobedience to the word of God has caused many a king to destroy whole Kingdoms. And it is no different today if we are disobedient unto the Lord you can count on not only will you suffer but others can suffer too. Josh 7:1 1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel. Notice: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel. Who sinned? Achan. Then why was God angry at all Israel? Because they were a body and anytime there is sickness in one part of the body the whole body is affected. God works according to his word not according to what we want him too! Why did Achan do what he done? He knew it was wrong or he would not have hid the wedge of silver and gold and the garments. Here’s the reason: Josh 7:11 Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. Did Israel sin or Achan? In the eyes of God all Israel was guilty? God commanded the tribe and one man’s sin not only angered the Lord but innocent men died for the sins of Achan. That is why it is important that we all obey the Lord; as long as one person is committing sin the whole body (Church)will suffer. Josh 7:12-Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you. 13 Up, sanctify the people, and say, sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you. Sanctify means to render or acknowledge to hallow; to separate from things profane and dedicate to God, to consecrate and so render safe from being corrupted; to purify. We cannot make up our own rules and live by them and expect the blessing of God on our lives. Acts 26:18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me. Josh 7:19-25 And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me. 20 And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done: 21 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it. 22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it. 23 And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD. 24 And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor. 25 And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? The LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. Here Achan admits he has transgressed the commandment of God. But the end results not only affected Achan but verse 25 describes to us the penalty of disobedience. People today think, I will do what I want and it only affects me. That isn’t true, what you do affects everyone around you. It affects the church, your family and everyone you come in contact with. If you backslide, it is a disgrace to God. We are telling God we don’t need you to guide our lives, we can make it without you. Think about it for a minute, what was so bad about taking a little money and a few clothes? Here’s why: Josh 6:18- And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it. 19 But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD. It was commanded of the Lord because God said so and that ought to have been enough. Achan was no different than anyone else. He couldn’t see why taking a little would hurt anything. I’ll give you Scripture: 1 Cor 5:6-Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: The Living Bible Translation: 1 Cor 5:7-9 Remove this evil cancer-this wicked person-from among you, so that you can stay pure. Christ, Gods Lamb, has been slain for us. 8 So let us feast upon him and grow strong in the Christian life, leaving entirely behind us the cancerous old life with all its hatreds and wickedness. Let us feast instead upon the pure bread of honor and sincerity and truth. 9 When I wrote to you before I said not to mix with evil people. That seems to be a problem here in this church, people want to run with the same old crowd, commit the same old sin. You can’t be pleasing unto God and we cannot have revival until we have obeyed Gods voice to separate ourselves form the world, to be holy and touch not the unclean things. NLB--2 Cor 6:14- Dont be teamed with those who do not love the Lord, for what do the people of God have in common with the people of sin? How can light live with darkness? 15 And what harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a Christian be a partner with one who doesnt believe? 16 And what union can there be between Gods temple and idols? For you are Gods temple, the home of the living God, and God has said of you, I will live in them and walk among them, and I will be their God and they shall be my people. 17 That is why the Lord has said, Leave them; separate yourselves from them; dont touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you 18 and be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters.
