Without causing unnecessary panic amongst the dog owning population of Taunton, we do think it necessary to share information that Tone Vets are dealing with two cases of Idiopathic Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy, similar to a condition called Alabama Rot. This disease is characterised by acute kidney failure following ulcerative skin lesions. It is important to know that this is a very rare condition and as we are waiting for test results to confirm our suspicions, we still cannot be 100% sure if the cause of these two dogs illness (unfortunately one dog has already died) can be linked to this disease. However, we do advise to have your dog checked by a vet if you see any ulcerative skin lesions where the cause is unknown. Better to be safe!
