Women have been advised to use clean water to wash their vagina as against use of soap. Washing d virginal with soap could cause virginal discharge . Many of d soaps women use contain alkaline substances n many others contain antiseptics. Such substances are detrimental to d well-being of d vagina. “When women use a lot of cosmetics – alkaline materials - to wash their private parts right inside, they tend to distort d normal pH of d vagina, which is supposed to be acidic. “So if u go on neutralizing d acid by use of alkaline substances, u will encourage d growth of one group of organisms against d other, which could lead to some discharges . Antiseptics on d other hand will kill d normal vaginal flora n predispose u to opportunistic infections such as Candidiasis. Discharges from a woman’s vagina could either be normal or abnormal. Abnormal discharge could also be caused by diseases like gonorrhoea n trichomoniasis n infections like Candidiasis. Such discharges could b whitish, greenish, yellowish or cheesy in colour, some discharges come with an offensive odour while some come with fishy odour.
