Wonderful. BMW just recalled all E46 models sold in the US. If the airbags go off the igniter in the bag may explode sending shrapnel into the face of the driver or passenger. Way to go Takata! All you needed to do was make airbags that did not behave like grenades and if would have been fine!!!! Maybe I should remove the airbag fuse to disable the system and make it safer? CONSEQUENCE: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passengers frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure could cause rupturing of the inflator resulting in metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants. REMEDY: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger side frontal air bag, free of charge. An interim notice will be mailed to owners in August 2014.
