Wondering what all the hype about Michael Vick is? Please read this excerpt compiled from official court records about what Vick and his cohorts did. Vick served time for racketeering and tax evasion. In a brokered a plea agreement the state of VA failed to prosecute him on dog fighting or cruelty. In no way do we condone injury or death wishes to Vick, but he should have been banned, like Pete Rose, like Lance Armstrong. Why does the NFL look the other way with federal convicts? Even if you dont care about dog fighting, you should care about the dangerous precedents pro-athletes and other celebrities set when our children see them slip right back into their million dollar contracts and fame riddled lives. The Vick problem goes far beyond the barbaric brutality he orchestrated, far beyond the fact that he has a dangerous mental deficiency that skews heavily to the sadistic side and appears to be void of compassion. We can forgive people, yes, even those who show no remorse as Vick admitted on multiple occasions when stating emphatically that he has no regrets about anything in his life. However, forgiveness is not defined by complacency. Forgiveness is not dependent on allowing the perpetrator to have the luxuries once afforded to him back. Forgiveness and looking the other way are NOT mutually dependent on one another, yet that is the societal norm today. Are there not hundreds of talented young athlete hopefuls who manage to keep themselves out of trouble that are far more deserving of the celebratory status of a pro-athlete then Vick, Lewis, and the list goes on and on? This begs the question; Exactly what is wrong with us? The declination of morality in civic society has been embraced. We are in very, very big trouble. As that dog lay on the ground fighting for air, Quanis Phillips grabbed its front legs and Michael Vick grabbed its hind legs. They swung the dog over their heads like a jump rope then slammed it to the ground. The first impact didn’t kill it. So Phillips and Vick slammed it again. The two men kept at it, alternating back and forth, pounding the creature against the ground, until at last, the little red dog was dead.- The Lost Dogs
