Word For Today! And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying: These men are the servants of the Most High God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. (Acts 16 vs 16,17). Todays Scripture tells the tale of a young maiden who went about with Paul and Silas, announcing that they were servants of God. She seemed to give credence to the personality of Paul and Silas. She said positive things about Paul and his fellows. She advertised them by saying who they truly were. One could say she was making a useful contribution to the ministry of Paul. Notice carefully that although what she said was right, she was operating with the evil spirit of divination. What she said was correct, but the spirit behind it was evil. Her actions were good, but her inspiration was demonic. What she did seemed good, but where it was coming from was completely evil. Friends, God says, in this year, discern between what is coming from God and what is not coming from God. Discern between Divine inspiration and satanic divination. Discern between good advice from God, and good advice that may eventually sink your destiny. Discern between genuine prophecies from God, and false prophecies. It is not enough to conclude that something looks good; look beyond what you see and discern where it is coming from. Dont get caught up in the seeming results of false people you find in the church and abandon what God told you. 1 John 4 vs 1 encourages us to TEST every spirit. However, you cant test effectively when your spirit man is weak. Beloved, discern now so that the enemy does not design you for failure and pain!
