Would it be depressing to observe we are transitioning into a post-Enlightenment society; that rule of law increasingly does not matter; that most of our neighbors in the world dont believe in the dignity and sanctity of the individual; that many of us are no longer able to distinguish between objective reality and propaganda; that we increasingly are manipulated by opinion makers; and that the media, of which I is one, stand ever ready to rush to judgement with a predictable and often recycled prepackaged narrative? And before you mention Fox News or MSNBC, let us agree that we can, at least for now, still choose between two flavors, conservative and liberal, and both of which -- paranoia alert! paranoia alert! -- likely both serve the same master in the end.
