Wow - it has been a while since I have posted anything on my page. I started this page to reach out and stay in touch with mainly my former students to offer words of wisdom, if and when they needed or requested. Most thought that was very bizarre for me since they watched me struggle just to learn how to turn on the computer, much less tweak or twit or whatever. Anyway, I thought theyd like to hear this story about my merge into modern day living. Ive gotten so used to our technology advanced country from being able to heat food in a box above my stove that just requires the tap of a button (I think they call it a microwave) to sliding my finger across a screen on my phone and instantly talking to my wife a million miles away through this thing called Skype without dialing a number. Well, this week my travels have taken me back to Colombia, and while they too are marching forward with this thing called progress, some things still lag behind. Here is my story - while sitting in a meeting, I found myself with the serious urge to visit the restroom. Thats a frequent voyage for those my age. Also, I dont know why they call it a rest room - it is work for those of us at this age. Anyway, after about and hour my compadre got worried that I had not return and came looking for me. When he found me, I was standing at the sink with my hands under the faucet attempting to get the water to start so I could wash my hands. When he asked what I was doing, I replied waiting for the automatic water to start. After laughing at me for another ten minutes, he reached over and turn this handle looking thing and the water started. Wow - have I become too modernized that I cant even recognize and old fashioned faucet? By the way, I didnt dry my hands because the auto hand blower didnt work but they did have some sort of paper towel hanging out from underneath it. Wonder what those were for? Here is my thought to all who might be laughing at me right now - JUST KEEP ON LIVING! This is the Colonel - out!
