Wow we had to share this lovely review we received on Tripadvisor yesterday. A big well done to Team Nelson! :) Tempted to visit by the reviews and the fact that a local friends surname is Nelson, I wondered how the reality would stack up against a #2 in Eastbourne rating. The answer is simple. It underestimates the sheer quality of Nelsons. Superb and friendly service, a sense of humour (a tip jar that threatens to give a child a mullet for every missed tip) and absolutely wonderful food. Soup, home made by a local couple down the street which changes as they use each small batch (ours was a hearty tomato with a hint of bacon) served with very lightly toasted, airy sourdough bread. Hand made sandwiches on artisan bread including a hint of New York with a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and a When Harry met Sally pastrami. Hand made pastries and cakes. And the drinks show what a coffee shop SHOULD be like. Espresso made with a rich, fruity, fair trade coffee with no hint of the bitter burnt taste of the rubbish Star****s are inflicting on the world and pretending is coffee. Speciality teas ranging from 2nd flush Darjeeling to Rooibos to a Mojitea (green tea with peppermint and lime). Hot chocolate made with molten chocolate and hot milk (the deluxe version adds marshmallows and whipped cream). Truly one of the best coffee shops Ive ever been to in 42 years traveling the world and loving good coffee.
