Let the time of sleepwalking and backsliding come to a permanent close. Outcomes like these occur when morally apathetic people are permitted to design and run systems of justice that largely benefit themselves, without sufficient opposition. The silent majority remains silent for a reason. Their most urgent needs have largely already been satiated. We cant blame anything on others when so many folks sit idly by and permit the potential leaders of tomorrow to devote. their. lives. to playing games of sport instead of becoming people that shape the world around them into something better. Previous stakeholders and lawmakers did what they were allowed to do largely unchallenged by designing a system of justice from coast to coast that protects the arbiters of justice from just legal consequences even when they visibly commit acts of murder on tape and in turn deny citizens of all walks of life the right to be charged with crimes and penalties that fit the magnitude of their offenses. The next time you talk to a child about what is going on in this nation say, You can change that. instead of filling them with feelings of powerlessness and woe, even by diffusion. Tell children explicitly that they and likeminded young people can, by their own hand, change unjust outcomes to ones that are just in their own lifetimes. Give them books that open their minds instead of virtual games that pacify and distract them from the world around them, even when they protest. They will thank you later in life. Actively seek out and obtain mentors that will give children tangible proof that they too can live great lives fueled by their own intellectual fire and ambition. Teach them to take the wheel of their own destinies instead of blaming others that only presently have control of the wheel because they too often go unchallenged. Dont internalize the cruel criticism of those that want the wheel of justice all to themselves. If the perpetual miscarriage of justice from coast to coast in the 21st Century doesnt usher in a renaissance of the black and brown intelligentsia in this nation, nothing ever will. #acuity #justice #power #activism #allhandsondeck
