Xenon Gyrocopter on amazing Island - Paros Greece Paros is another Greek jewel island in the central Aegean Sea. One of the Cyclades island group, it lies to the west of Naxos, from which it is separated by a channel about 8 km wide. It lies about 150 km south-east of Piraeus. Its nearest neighbour is the municipality of Antiparos, which lies to its southwest. Paros is blessed with many beaches offering golden sand and various settings that cover all the range of beach goers, from intimate coves to party beaches for the young and adventurous. Its crystal clear waters are etched in the memories of its visitors enriching their winters. Windsurfing in Paros is one of the greatest attractions for its visitors. The northerly winds blowing in the summer months on the aegean sea, known as Meltemi, attract thousands of fans of the sport. There are several beaches where everything needed to practice the sport, whether a beginner or an expert, is offered. In the past, even the world cup ( PBA, PWA ) were held there. The relatively new sport of kitesurfing has been from its inception an integral part of the island. As a result, the world cup is held here regularly while there are some world-renowned kitesurfing conditions and schools at Pounda beach, opposite of Antiparos island. Kitesurfers along with windsurfers put on a colourful show as they zoom from one side to the other of the channel that separates the two islands. During the summer months, the predominant northerly winds make Pounda an ideal place to learn, practise freestyle surfing as well as try some unhooked tricks. From the period 6 to 11 May 2013 a team of Kitesurfers forming the Nobile team together with a team from Celier Aviation took to the seas and skies around Paros in an urge to promote this beautiful island to the entire world. Amongst the members of the Nobile Team were world famous freestyle Kitesurfers from Brazil and Poland. Celier Aviation was represented by the designer and test pilot in person, Mr Raphael Celier. To carry out the desired quality of marketing material for Paros and Greece, in order to enhance tourism, the teams were joined by the Red Bull official cameraman for extreme sports and another specialised filming crew from Poland. The journey to Paros started on the 4 May 2013 where the first team departed by van and trailer for a journey of 2300 km from Warsaw to Piraeus in Greece via Slovakia, Rumania and Bulgaria. The journey lasted 31 hours and was uneventful as team crossed four countries of the European Union. The second team flew from Poland on a light aircraft owned by Nobile. The Celier Aviation team mounted the Xenon Gyrocopter that was based in Paros Airport and carried out numerous flights on the following days. The Xenon Gyrocopter performed numerous flights over the fabulous scenery of Paros and its surroundings. Enjoy the pictures.
