YE ARE PRIESTS Revelation 1:5-6 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. The love of Jesus towards us is striking. He says He has made us Kings that means a Christian is not a beggar nor is he born to suffer. Royalty is in his veins. Jesus has already made us kings he is not planning to make us kings when we all get to heaven but he has done it already. As a king you have been called to reign on earth, this is your ministry. Furthermore the word tells that Jesus has made us priests. As a priest you have a priestly ministry and you’re will ought to be to fulfil your priestly ministry. Question is what is the ministry of a Priest? (Hebrews 8:3) says Priests have been appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices. Now a high priest has a ministry to God, Christians and sinners. When you read from the book of (1 Samuel 12:19-21) (please read the scriptures for yourself) the Israelites converse with Samuel, who was a Prophet and a priest, that he should pray for them to God and later on in the verses we also see Samuel teaching the Israelite’s. What we can pick up from this is that a priest’s ministry is to offer prayers and teachings to the people. This means since you are a priest you fulfil your priestly ministry by praying for lost souls and offering teachings to people by winning the lost to Christ and by so doing so you are carrying out your priestly ministry. Furthermore Samuel says, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you (1 Samuel 12:23). Samuel said these words because he understood his priestly ministry. He understood that interceding for souls was a responsibility. Equally Jesus has made us priests and as priests he said men ought to pray and not faint (Luke 18:1). So like Samuel the day you stop praying for souls like Samuel you perceive it as sin. This is remarkable in (Galatians 4:19) Paul conveys the same message. He says my children of whom I travailed in birth again until Christ be formed in you. In reality Paul was saying the reason the Galatians were born again was because he went through labour pains for them-prayed and fasted. This simply means the kind of prayers he offered were uncommon. These prayers are different from the prayer of Faith. You continue praying for the soul until what you desire of him comes to pass. Much like when Elijah prayed for rain he went down on his knees seven times praying until the clouds were full of rain. Prophet (Isaiah 66:8) understood this he said a nation is not born in one day meaning until you begin to travail in prayer salvation will not take place in your family, workplace or institution of study. The bible says Satan has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe (2 Corinthians 4:4) so through your prayers you can soften the hearts of those who have been blinded to see the light of the gospel. In (Ephesians 1: 15-16 ) Paul told the church in Ephesus that ever since he heard of them he never stopped praying for them. This is the language of a priest. Pray for your Pastor, your manager, you co-workers and the government for this is your ministry. https://youtube/watch?v=_zug0OXV1I0
