YES!!! BREAKING: Residents in the small ocean-side community of Ogunquit, Maine, on Tuesday voted to become the first town in the state to prohibit the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers on public and private property for turf, landscape, and outdoor pest management activities. Ogunquit’s ordinance makes the town the second local jurisdiction in the United States to ban pesticides on both public and private property, and the first to be passed by popular vote, 444 to 297. Ogunquit’s ordinance is modeled on the first private/public pesticide ban in Takoma Park, Maryland, last year. GO OGUNQUIT! THE REST OF THE USA NEEDS TO FOLLOW! READ: pressherald/2014/11/04/ogunquit/ (Note: We had previously delivered this news in July of this year of Ogunquit’s initiative. Unfortunately, a technical error by the filers of the initiative caused the ordinance to become void. pressherald/…/gaf-fe-by-ogunquit-voids-its-…/ But they didn’t give up, and put the initiative onto the ballot this November. This time, it is law.) #OgunquitQuitsPesticides #Ogunquit #Maine #PesticidesBan #BanPesticides #pesticides #SyntheticPesticides #TakomaPark #Maryland #gmofreecanada #gmofreeusa
