Yasir Qadhi is one of the prominent Islamic scholars of today. In this post, he explains what this ISIS is actually like, its philosophical origin, the danger it poses and how no Muslim can have anything to do with them. Ive spent some time today reading up on James Foley, the American journalist that was butchered by ISIS. Ive read some of his articles and seen some of his videos. All indications appear (and even ISIS does not claim otherwise) that he was a genuine journalist whose only goal was to report on the events in those regions. In fact, his parents have said that he sympathized with the Syrian people against the Pharoanic regime of Assad. He was captured by pro-Gaddafi rebels a few years ago and beaten by them, then eventually released (see this video). https://youtube/watch?v=9VYXKeGNPPk Sadly, he was captured again by Syrian rebels and then handed over to ISIS, who executed him. The reality of ISIS is becoming more and more clear, except to those who are deluded and too stubborn to see the truth. This group is nothing other than a modern reincarnation of the Kharijites of old. As our Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, these groups would have the best of speech, but the worst of actions; they would spread bloodshed wherever they go, even as they think they are the best of worshippers. Anyone who supports or sympathizes with ISIS - unsubscribe from my page now. No amount of the evils of American foreign policy (and yes, there is much that any just person will realize is evil) can justify the murderous rampage of ISIS and its ilk. Muslims and non-Muslims; Sunnis and Shiites; women and children; young and old - too many people have been murdered in the most brutal fashion imaginable. Scholars from around the world are becoming increasing vocal in their condemnation of them. These people have nothing to do with me, and I have nothing to do with them. -- Yasir Qadhi
