Yesterday, June 9, 2014 was designated UNAIDS International #ProtectTheGoal Day. Our ambassador, Miss Jamaica World 2013, Gina Hargitay is in Brazil supporting #ProtectTheGoal to end #HIV infections worldwide. People all around the world are able to engage in the campaign by building awareness of HIV/AIDS and, in solidarity, support the efforts of “Getting to Zero,” particularly through the youth efforts and through the power of sports and culture. Specifically, International Protect the Goal Day will: (1) Amplify worldwide media awareness of Protect the Goals campaign to reach three zeros; (2) Build excitement and momentum for the campaign in countries and communities throughout the world not participating in the World Cup (3) Engage broad-based community people in activities related to HIV/AIDS! The campaign was launched this morning in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil.
