Yesterday, Oliver, Andrew and I drove to the Alfred I Dupont - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, Oliver, Andrew and I drove to the Alfred I Dupont Hospital for Children in Delaware. Without traffic it is a little over 2 hours away. With traffic, it is about 3 hours. And, of course, we hit traffic. :) We were gone ALL day, and let me tell you, it takes a lot of packing and planning to take these boys out for a day trip! Formulas and feeding tubes and ice packs and meds. And stopping at rest stops along the way to start feeds or stop feeds or give medicines that need to be given at a specific time. But we made it! Phew! So anyways, it was a very successful day! The wonderful people at the seating clinic found a chair for Oliver to help us get him more upright while he is at home. We will eventually be getting him a wheelchair type device, but not until we have a long-term plan for the contractures in his legs. And speaking of his legs, we met with a cerebral palsy (CP) doctor who confirmed that Oliver does indeed have cerebral palsy. There is no test that can be taken that says, yes you do or no you dont have cerebral palsy, but based on the severity of his contractures and the severe trauma to his brain at birth, CP is not a surprising diagnosis at this point. The CP doctor and Olivers orthopedic doctor will be discussing a plan of action for his legs. Here are a couple of pictures from yesterday, and a few from the day before. (Click on a picture for a description). Enjoy!
