Yesterday PSLV launched its C23 rocket which injected 5 foreign satellites into their intended orbits. It was not the first time that ISRO had done this … so far they have successfully launched 65 satellites / space crafts into a variety of orbits. But yesterday was a special day on many counts. Yesterday, for the first time, the Prime minister of India gave due importance to this event by being present there during the launch. Yesterday, for the first time the scientists in ISRO genuinely felt that their hard work was recognized, respected and appreciated. Yesterday, the young scientists in all the fields all over India were inspired to achieve bigger successes in life. Yesterday, the Prime minister refreshed the memories of all Indians about how India has progressed from ‘Upanishad’ to ‘Upagraha’. And yes, yesterday was special on another count … Yesterday Narendra Modi gave a speech in English to disprove all his opponents who always said that he cannot speak in English…! Of course, his English pronunciation has a heavy Gujarati accent. But then, our ex-President Abdul Kalam’s English had a heavy Tamil accent and everyone respected him too…!
