Yesterday was such an exciting day knowing that we were getting Bostons cast off. Poor guy was very nervous about it, I dont think he breathed the entire time they cut it off. Thanking the Lord that his elbow stayed in place. He cant straighten it at all but the Dr feels that as he plays, it will be a natural physio and the joint will loosen. The X-rays showed a fracture that should have had surgery on at the time so that was hard to hear.... He said that with the position of the cast, it wasnt picked up. Now that there has been healing and growth taking place, it would do more damage to go in and fix it now. The piece of bone has fallen into the right place (miraculously ) but is sitting at the wrong angle. The Dr seemed confident that as his elbow gets moving, that piece of bone should shift and lessen the difference in degrees. We will reexamine when we come back to Canada in July to make sure his arm is growing at the right angle. Bostons nerves are responding which shows they are healing. They grow back at 1mm per day, starting from the elbow, so his wrist is needing a splint until those nerves have grown back as well. All in all, we are happy and trusting the Lord that this will be it. We will fly back to the rest of our family at the end of the week. Dwayne is juggling the roles of many people right now as well as dealing with a brand new 2 week old baby. So please pray for strength and grace for him.
