You can borrow what I wrote to send your own comments to Congress... Senator Lindsey Graham wants sanctions imposed on any country granting Edward Snowden asylum. The Senate Appropriations Committee agrees. (shar.es/kVSpR) But... I DENY CONSENT! Snowden served the American public by revealing NSA crimes. It must never be a crime to expose crimes. To oppose Snowden’s actions is to support criminality. And the proposed sanctions would simply pile new crimes on top of old crimes. These sanctions would... - punish AMERICANS by prohibiting opportunities for profitable trade - impoverish innocents in the targeted nation(s) who had NOTHING to do with this controversy In addition, the NSA’s crimes have turned the U.S. into a pariah State. Allies feel betrayed. Many who once pointed to us as a beacon of liberty have now lost faith in us. (shar.es/kVMD1) We have become a negative example instead of a positive one. This is YOUR fault. Congress created this abomination by passing criminal statutes such as the Patriot Act and FISA. Snowden is NOT to blame. You are. Therefore... Instead of punishing countries that give Snowden asylum, you should... 1. defund the NSA’s warrantless surveillance programs 2. repeal the Patriot Act 3. tell the President to pardon Snowden, allowing him to return home. These actions... - are morally required - would reward public service - will repair our tarnished reputation Don’t let Senator Graham’s delusions trick you into supporting continued criminality. Senator Graham’s policies harm our national security by creating unneeded enemies. His whole career has been a disaster for American security. Do what I want, not what he wants. Restore the 4th Amendment or lose more of what little legitimacy you still have left.
