You cant have it both ways. You cant expect people to participate and or contribute to our economy when people are subjected to slave wages that promote government assistance. If anything corporations are guilty of being dependent on government to supplement the wages of their employees. Work is dignity, work is social and economic empowerment when people receive wages that keep up with the rate of inflation. Disposable income stimulates economic growth due to the fact that 70% of our economy is based on consumer spending. The majority of Americans since the 1980s have literally watched their incomes shrink decade after decade. The expansion of credit (especially high risk credit) was the temporary solution to replace the void in the majority of Americans declining incomes. In other words, once you take away the peoples ability to participate in our economy, it creates instability in society just like in Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy. These countries are just beginning to fall apart and we arent far behind them. The status quo you apparently support only perpetuates the economic decline. People need to receive a living wage in order for our country to achieve economic prosperity again. Detroit should be a wake up call considering Detroit was the richest city per capita In America 40 years ago. Michigan will never recover and California is likely next. Have a good day.
