You may be in the process of accepting a leadership role, which carries with it responsibilities as well as privileges. You might feel authoritative and commanding, but that is not all that leadership entails. To be a good leader, you must balance your needs with the needs of those you lead, as well as anyone to whom you might answer. Though at times it will be necessary to take an authoritative position and direct with commands, there will also be times when you need to work with your team. One of the responsibilities you have as a leader is to look after those you lead, making sure they are properly cared for and that they are motivated to do what needs to be done. It is important to earn their respect as well, for their cooperation is essential, otherwise you will have no one to lead. Today by accepting the responsibility that comes with being in command, you can lead effectively. A sense of power can have a strong effect on people, sometimes causing them to lose sight of their responsibilities. Their perspective may become skewed and they can lose balance. But if we can keep balance in the forefront of our minds as we step into leadership roles, we can make sure that for every action we consider the consequences and the benefits, and act accordingly. Today you can use your authority and command in combination with your inner wisdom to lead all concerned to a place of pride and respect in their work.
