You want to argue about when or if destruction of property or violence is justified, we can have that talk some time. But this [link] is about the selective disparity of response. Read that again before you comment. Think about why theres such a different sort of official reaction. Consider what that means for our society, our political systems, our police state - that celebrations gone destructive are not treated the same as legitimate grievances spilling over into outraged action. Disparity of response is the key to whats happening in Ferguson right now. Its the key to how a police state operates. Its the key to civil protests turned violent which weve witnessed both through history and in the past few years. This has got to be acknowledged. Refusing to acknowledge it because that might mean acknowledging deep-seated racism, thorough corruption of institutions supposedly meant protect people equally, and other dirty terrible things, will only continue to allow and compound the problem.
