You will never go wrong by taking a stand for excellence. But heres the trick: theres a difference in actually taking a stand for excellence....and paying lip-service to the concept. Because actually taking a stand for excellence means making decisions that dont reinforce the status quo. Itll upset the people who think the bar should be set nice and low so you never upset anyone. But heres the thing: the status quo never does much of anything worthwhile. Oh, you can make a living by setting the bar nice and low. No question. McDonalds does it. Wal-Mart does it. But, at the end of the day, you have to ask yourself: Am I in this to produce something of excellence? Or am I just aiming to please the lowest common denominator? Heres my thought: whether its in your home....in your church.....in your hobby.....or in your business, youll never go wrong taking a stand for excellence and EXPECTING THE BEST out of people.....and committing to GIVING YOUR BEST to people. Setting the bar low serves no purpose except to reward mediocrity. If youre taking a stand for excellence in your life today, it can be a lonely stance to take. My hat is off to you.
