Your pay as a performer should be directly relevant to the income you derive to a promoter. If you have 0 fans why would a promoter book you at 100+$ for an hour? With that being said no-one wants to play for free and shouldnt but beyond expenses and comps the DJ needs to bring value to the show to be booked with good pay! Alot of people forget this is a business and just expect high pay with no track record. Remember it has to work for promoter as much as Dj otherwise there is no show to play.
