ZAMBIA TO TAKE PART IN THE FOUR-NATION AFRICA CUP UNDER-19 GROUP B RUGBY TOURNAMENT IN UGANDA ZAMBIA will be among the countries taking part in the four-nation Africa Cup Under-19 Group B rugby tournament in Uganda from August 25 to 30 this year. The Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) has selected Zambia to replace Morocco at the Africa Cup under-19 tournament following the North African country’s failure to make it to East Africa for the annual rugby championship. Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) media and communications manager, Brenda Katongola who confirmed this in a statement in Lusaka said, preparations to select the Zambia national Under-19 squad have started. The tournament in Uganda has drawn Madagascar, Senegal, hosts Uganda and Zambia. Katongola said, according to the draws which have been communicated to the ZRU by CAR, all teams will be expected to arrive in Kampala on Monday, August 25, 2014. The teams and a technical meeting will be held on the same date. On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, all the four nations will go straight into the tournament in which Zambia has been pitted against Madagascar in the first match at 14:30 hours, while the other match between Uganda and Senegal would be played at 16:30 hours. 0n Saturday, August 30, 2014, the losers of the first semi-final match will play against the losers of the second semi-final match at 14:30 hours and the winners of the first semi-final encounter will slug it out with the winners of the second semi-final encounter. Katongola said the organisers of the tournament have emphasised that CAR rules will be applied and that all team managers must ensure that players representing their Unions are eligible to do so in accordance with International Rugby Board (IRB) Laws and Regulations. Any participating player should have been born between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 1996 and that no players born outside the stipulated period shall be permitted to play in the tournament. Katongola announced that all teams will be entitled to have the following squads in attendance at Africa Cup Tournament, 24 players; three management persons and a properly certified doctor or physiotherapist among the above three management officials.
