Zanu PF intensifies violence in Mashonaland East Friday, 06 September 2013 The MDC notes with great concern the increase of politically motivated violence being perpetrated by Zanu PF militia in Mashonaland East province. We note with concern that Zanu PF has stepped up its acts of violence in Mashonaland East in sinister attempts to eliminate MDC supporters in the province. Last night, two children escaped unhurt when a house they were sleeping in was torched in a politically motivated attack at Musanhi Village in Mutoko East. The house belonging to Adam Katsiga, the MDC chairperson for ward 9 in Mutoko East was attacked by suspected Zanu PF militia last night at around midnight. The suspects have been identified as Ishmael Chikweto, the Zanu PF youth chairperson for ward 9 and Phineas Katsiga the Zanu PF ward councillor. The two had earlier issued threats to the victim that they were going to deal him first before they turn to other MDC supporters. A police report has since been made at Makosa Police Station in Mutoko but no action has been taken. The latest attack comes soon after another attack in Mahusekwa on Sunday when property worth thousands of dollars was destroyed when the homestead of MDC parliamentary candidate for Marondera West in the July elections, McDonald Muchetwa, was gutted by fire in another clear case of political violence. #freeZim
