All costs will be covered by the government, Shein said, speaking at the celebration marking the 51st anniversary of Zanzibars revolution at Aman Stadium.The move comes in honour of Zanzibars first president Sheikh Abeid Amani Karume and the implementation of his goals. Primary education is already free for students in mainland Tanzania under the Universal Primary Education initiative passed 13 years ago. However, parents have complained they are asked to give money under the guise of making contributions. In his speech, Shein also said he would keep the union government together. Our unity and peace have largely contributed development of the Zanzibar for the past four years of the government of national unity, he said.
