alphacut 001 even 3 different artist clash together on the first alphacut record: the triangle between hamburg (cycom), dortmund (buzz) and leipzig (jakin boaz) became spread and shows alphacuts openness and range. the direction of music is mainly thought for the dancefloor, however nevertheless also for the brains. there are breaks, drops and other weird stuff - whatever the sequencer spits out - to make your feet busy again. alphacut 001+: this is a special repress on transparent vinyl in an extra cover, limited to 31 copies worldwide. available in summer 2004. a1 cycom - rude bwoy b1 buzz - powerplant b2 lxc - eko (jakin boaz rmx) cycoms rude bwoy features a stomach-sawing bass and 2 beats, nearly estimating each other. bad stabsounds and some gangsta vocals: get ready for street biz as usual - only for real rude boys. ;) an exxagerating beat chaos leads the powerplant track by buzz. if the subbass isnt bad enough, the strange female vocals will make you feel insecure in the end. the jakin boaz remix accelerates lxcs eko track (original on phantomnoise 004) into the 4th breakcore dimension: a battlefield full of distorted beats, damaged programmings and destroyed sounds. including 8 locked grooves. vinyl cut by sst. record manufacturing by rand. format: 12. white vinyl, labels & package. graphics stamped, sticked & written. catalogue number: ACR 001. number of pieces: lim 500. handmade in east germany. out january 20th 2003. special limited repress ACR 001+ of 31 pieces out of transparent vinyl in 2004. artist profiles cycom is the lucky one which introduces the first sounds of our new little imprint: the a side of alphacut 001. native from mainz (germany) but today living in hamburg, he had already been publishing on different drumnbass labels before. his beats are compelling, edited in a precisely matching way. cycoms trademark sound results from the superimposition of several samples, followed by subtractive editing, contributing to a very individual colouring within his music. his releases on other labels like santorin show his affinity towards music beyond stilistic frontiers. the idiosyncrasy of the bedroom-studio-advocate lies in his way of production: a shareware-tracker, called jeskola buzz, that represents a remote relative of the former trackerprograms. cycom aka thomas fleischer was born 1974 and started making electronic music on his c64 aged 12. since then the love for music and beats kept him constantly exploring new musical terrain. after playing in several conventional bands his mind got turned to electronic beats again, as he discovered jungle in 1993. producing drumnbass since 1995, he took some time to perfect his sound and released his first 12 in september 2001 after doing various remixes for artists like simon v, barth or chaoz. cycom releases: track: rude bwoy (alphacut 001) single: oscillate & nightflight (santorin lp) ep: void ep (plain 001) track: oscillate (metrobreaks comp. canada) track: ultra (magic vinyl compilation) single: oscillate (santorin 008) remix: simon v - broken promise (santorin 005) cycom home: cycom.plain-productions.de buzz explored his fascination for breaks in the middle of the nineties on parties and raves. inspired of those nights in old cellars and industial halls, he began to create breakbeats. a key moment happened in berlin 1996: a good friend showed him an amiga with protracker on it and buzz was infected. however he found only 1998 the fitting equipment for realizing his creative potential. his tracks originate out of a permanently growing sample-pool, special films and videogames belong to his favourite pastures. an interesting and alternating sound scenario arises because of the widely layed out arrangement and the weaving of samples. motions, complex structures and dynamics are also important criterions. friends of details will like the sound of buzz and its higly diversified patterns. he works on each track for a few weeks before it becomes completed. the result: the more and more mutating tracks by buzz. jakin boaz: once a time in leipzig, there was a young boy visiting a friend and tracking his mini keyboard. just playing around and there it was: sound 78 - it was all up with him. he had to have this sound, and thanks to his mother he was going to get it. first steps were done. years go by, he moved to a area infected by fascists and became a little antifa fighter at first. later he remembered on making music and began playing guitar in a punk-band in 1996. when it became too harsh and monotounous he quit. nevertheless possessed by sound he was searching for new ground. but what to do? he thought of his old keyboard casio sa-1 and called his musical spirit with good old sound 78 - by the way - called computersound. now endless worlds opened to him. and because hes not dead, he can be seen on several live gigs around and until today hes making musik of many different colours. the one of the story is me not not, jakin boaz. previous jakin boaz releases: full length cd on trash tapes 36, several compilation appearances, eko remix on alphacut 001 contact jakin boaz: jakin boaz doesn’t have and never will have a homepage or email, get in contact thru alphacut hq. press reactions (unfortunatly in german, sorry) dhyana (bernd spring) elektronische intelligenz, welche die beine auf der tanzfläche zum denken bringt. eine musikalische dreiecksbeziehung aus hamburg, dortmund und leipzig. kein stumpfer hardcore-baller, dafür aber mit der entsprechenden würze und rauheit eines tonträgers aus dem untergrund gesegnete scheibe. amen. beam me up (steffen falk) [...] und nun zu sachsen: da gibts tatsächlich ein paar leute, die nicht den ganzen tag sandsäcke stapeln und sächseln, sondern sich viel lieber dem brechen von strukturen widmen. irgendwo zwischen cheesy drumnbass und noisy breakcore klaffte bis vor kurzem noch ein grand canyon, und gäbe es in leipzig nicht das fakecore netzwerk (fakecore.net), hätten zukünftige klangarchäologen noch einige forschungsarbeit zu leisten. da ist zum einen das ruggige debut des alphacut labels, das knietief brummenden drumnbass von cycom und hirnbohrende breakcore-hörspiele von buzz und lxc bietet.
