crimepost news Hyderabad: Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi today said that as election code is in place, Governor ESL Narasimhan will also comes under its purview. Speaking to media persons, Vinod stated that the Governor is no exception to the code.The Governor, though has discretionary powers, cannot hold meetings with Collectors and SPs during the elections time, he said. If the Governor so desires in exceptional and emergency cases, he can hold review meetings only after seeking a prior permission from the Election Commission, Vinod said. He also said that process of registering new parties will not take much time. On following all norms of the Election Commission a new party can register itself within short period of time, he said. Earlier, along with Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal, Vinod directed the Collectors and SPs of all districts in a review meeting to ensure that the General Elections to be held in peaceful and hassle free manner. In a high level review meeting with them, he directed that all the measures for smooth conduct of the elections are taken in advance. Bhanwar Lal directed the officials to coordinate with officials of other departments besides focusing on strict vigilance to thwart any untoward incident, booth capturing, poll violation.
