g that many people dont know is that were what we are, courtesy of the prayers of someone. It may be a pastor, Mother, grand mother or even just a friend. The good thing about our God is that he will always appoint someone to call on him on your behalf, even if we have gone so far. Israel could not be a nation now were it not for the prayers of people like Daniel, Moses, Amos and Samuel. This are men who had such deep intercession to God for Israel before the Lord, when his judgement was looming on them. The late Pastor Chuck Smith says ,God will always look for an excuse to have mercy on you! Yes, he does not tolerate our sins but before we have gone so far, he would have sent us warning after warning and even engaged all your friends, if not family, to stand with you in prayer. Infact, the bible says ,the LORD will do nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. [Amos 3:7] I like the Lord and how he operates in scripture and how he uses his servants to intercede for his people. When reading Amos 7, i was so touched on how Amos interceded for Israel. He says The Sovereign Lord showed me a vision. I saw him preparing to send a vast swarm of locusts over the land. This was after the king’s share had been harvested from the fields and as the main crop was coming up. In my vision the locusts ate every green plant in sight. Then he cries, “O Sovereign Lord, please forgive us or we will not survive, for Israel is so small. ”So the Lord relented from this plan. “I will not do it,” he said. Then the Sovereign Lord showed me another vision. I saw him preparing to punish his people with a great fire. The fire had burned up the depths of the sea and was devouring the entire land. Then I said, “O Sovereign Lord, please stop or we will not survive, for Israel is so small. ”Then the Lord relented from this plan, too. “I will not do that either,” said the Sovereign Lord. [Amos 7:1-4] Why do you think God was showing this visions to Amos? I think is because he knew Amos loves Israel and is always praying for there good. He surely knew his prayer would avenge for them. He thus he was looking for an excuse to forgive. Gods judgments rarely fall on the people you enlist in your prayer-lists. He loves them a lot to care, thus giving you his concerns on them so that you may intercede for them . In another part of Israels history, when God was tired with Israel, he gave Moses an offer. He told him in anger ,I have seen these people, “they are a stiff- necked people. Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation. [”Exodus 32:9-10]. Did Moses accept the offer of God raising him and killing Israel? No way! Moses asked the Lord,”, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. [”Exodus 32:10-12]. If you keep reading, you see how intense his prayers are for Israel. He even dares the Lord please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written. ”[”Exodus 32:32]. Off course the Lord would not remove his name from the book of life, for interceding for his own people. He judged them but saved some because of his prayers and intercession for them In 1 Samuel 12:23, Samuel the Prophet made a promise to Israel that he will not sin against the LORD by failing to pray for them! Saint of God, who among your friends and relatives are you praying for every time you go to God? Who do you want the Lord to have mercy on in your family, if not organization? You may be surprised in heaven when you see the people you stood for in prayers seating before the Lord and so grateful that you prayed for them. As the late Pastor Chuck says, God is looking for an excuse to have mercy on his people, and you are his urgent in this world. Let us always keep others in our prayers, especially those immersed in sin. He is gracious enough to forgive and mighty enough to save. Also be grateful God for the people he placed in your path to pray for you when you were deep in sin, had no voice nor strength to stand before God as Israel was. Thanks God for the Moses, Samuel and Amos that he put in your life to stand in the gap for you. God bless you
