i find it really easy to tell you why i like/love someone. but ask me why i DONT and thing get complicated. whats that tell ya? i think i need to justify my disdain for someone. not cool. i was yipping to a dear friend of mine about another mutual acquaintance. she let me finish my rant and then calmly said, now you know how to pray. not only did that statement put me in my place but it was a difficult reminder that we (as Christians) are to pray even for those who hate us. OUCH. i had felt there was something (Christ-like) inherently wrong about posts i keep seeing that say pray for ______. (fill in the blank.) Somehow they imply to ignore the enemy.....almost dehumanizing folk. i found it way too easy and comforting to do. hmmmm... and then BAM! i found it in Scripture. if the Lord were standing in front of us and we ask were to ask Him, For whom shall we pray? Hed say, All of em, coach. ALL of them. Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may [ap]be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 Therefore [aq]you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. WHOOP! THERE IT IS! ouch. and again i say ouch.
