just posted this comment on health24: Being an atheist and sceptic I am the last person to be induced to spend money on overpriced jewellery and had to laugh when so many people fell for the rubber power balance variety some years back. The scamsters made millions and there are still some expensive examples of "cure all" magnetic bracletes around. However, I do admit, as a golfer who suffered badly with back and elbow pains, to wearing a plain copper bracelet. I know all about the placebo effect but for some reason or other plain copper does appear to help. I have thought it may be because sweat causes the copper to leach out as copper sulphate which stains the skin around the wrist. Does the skin absorb the copper sulphate? Does copper sulphate do anything? When they did these tests did they do a "sweat test"? All I know is that for the past 10 years that I have worn a plain copper bracelet I do not experience elbow and back pains unless I forget to wear it for a week or so. Incidentally, my GP, also a golfer, wears one as well. He also experiences a beneficial effect so we are both either fooling ourselves or perhaps some sweat tests could be revealing. Let me stress a plain copper strip which you can make yourself although some commercial inexpensive ones are available.., Read the full article:
