latest news....Officials tonight announced that erratic winds drove the fire toward the east and southeast, forcing evacuations of an additional 150 structures, bringing the total to approximately 180. Fire crews were forced to disengage from strengthening the line along the southern perimeter due to extreme fire activity. Suppression tactics will take place during the night when winds subside and fire behavior can be more easily seen. Additional fire resources throughout the Pacific Northwest continue to arrive on the Mile Marker 28 Fire. Fire officials continue to report the fire acreage at 4,646, with 3 percent containment and 869 firefighters on the scene.
