m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-30124725 This is quite historic. Die Linke (The Left), the successor to the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, the communist party that ruled East Germany throughout its existence, is back in the east...but this time it was elected. A Die Linke-SPD coalition has been formed, which means that Bodo Romelow of Die Linke will become first minister. Extraordinary. What this will do is that it will open the door to SPD-Die Linke coalitions at the federal level. The SPD had previously refused to work with Die Linke.
