my first attempt at girdling japanese maples for enhanced nebari. these are a micro leaf dwarf jap maple cuttings that are wounded, dipped in hormone and stuck through a metal washer. the washer then will be top dressed with about an eighth to a quarter inch of soil. Brussel first told me of this technique and my friend John Kirby gave me specific intructions. So we will try this. I have seen many jap maples with this nebari that looks like melting wax and this is how it is achieved.
