#naija family Naija tinz are very known to be different. As marriage relationships all over the world are becoming more and more elusive, I believe this article will help the young minds. By mutual agreement, which is rare in Nigeria relationships but more evident in America, the country leading the world in divorce. Jacob Toews wrote that the Current figures show that 41-50 percent of first marriages fail. Second-marriage failure rates stand at 60-67 percent. Even more staggering is that third marriages face a 73 to 74 percent failure rate. Divorce in African homes especially Nigeria used to be a rare thing but due to transfer of ideas and technological advancement having it way, its becoming increasingly rampant. One major way advancement in technology has caused Nigerian marriages to seek for divorce is that,many men in Africa wants their wives to be “progressive”, powerful and “modern.” Yet, they also want them to be homemakers and wives. Unable to cope with fulfilling both roles, many women are abandoning their marriages and seeking divorces. Also, women wants to acquire wealth and power even without the support of their husbands. Disagreement between couples does not only lead to broken homes but has negative effects on children, a situation the Nigerian Government has to look into because we cant keep comparing ourselves with the developed countries. The duty of the man to provide food and shelter is becoming less and less acceptable to women, family leadership is becoming a shared duty. The reason for the marriage constitution is becoming neglected, the sense in having a helper is getting senseless and un-valued. Why then do we keep engaging one another? It gets to a moment when the personal reasons for getting engaged should dies and the only goal should be the children and offsprings produced, but most relationships dont even last that far leaving the kids to get re-born, a social, spiritual and economical havoc. Most dont believe in the cause any longer, its becoming a lost battle. Nigerian relationship has not gone that bad, reviving it is a possible possibility. The wake up call.
