Im here for this! in the actual book The Little Mermaid (by Hans Christen Andersen), the little mermaids tongue is cut out in exchange for her legs. as an additional sacrifice, each step she takes on her new legs will feel as if shes walking on knives and her feet will bleed continuously as a result. the little mermaid is FOREVER banished from her home and family, as a result of pursuing the Prince. and she eventually kills herself when the Prince dumps her for an actual human-Princess. the actual book is rather feminist. it cautions against living for the males attention and the plight of women (THINKIT: ariel count talk as a human woman). you can see how real Disney molested the original work.
