UAEs telecom carriers Etisalat and Du announced special offers for their customers in the UAE on Wednesday. Etisalat announced its new tariff of 1 fil per second for calls to 135 countries, including all GCC countries, the UK, the USA, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, the Philippines and most European countries. A rate of 2 fils per second is available to an additional 47 countries. The new tariffs are applicable round the clock to all Wasel Prepaid customers without the usual peak/off-peak time price differences. Users are charged a connection fee of Dh1.50 per call, with per-second billing of 1 fil, or 2 fils depending on the destination. To subscribe to the new IDD tariffs, a limited time offer, customers can simply SMS “1Fils” to 1012 or dial *111# and follow the menu. The 1-fil and 2-fil rates can be activated on top of customers’ existing tariff plans, overriding normal tariff charges. Users can subscribe to both the “Call International, Pay Local” and “1fils International” promotions and benefit from the best rates available to their preferred calling destination. “These new rates deliver incredible value to residents of the UAE, allowing them to talk longer to various destinations around the world at more affordable rates via Etisalat’s high-quality telecom network,”said Khaled Elkhouly, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat UAE.
