see? its this kind of kookoo stuff that i want from prince. and FINALLY he lets someone else produce him, and go figure: an album that sounds like now, but with retro odds and ends. the abrupt switch from rock to minimalist synthfunk; the sped-up camille voice; the party crowd noise; the abrupt tempo change at 3:00; VINTAGE PRINCE. but totally fun, and stupid, and catchy. i really like this new album. oh, and give affirmation 1 & 2/ way back home a spin... really good confessional stuff. but again, a concept album about .... space travel? suspended animation? who knows.
