some notes i made on flappy bird (phone game): there is no goal in flappy bird other than to live and to live long. but why would you want to live in such a dangerous world? what quality of life does this bird have? it can never rest. the skyline is graffitied by ads i think the answer is because living is fun. that’s the philosophy of flappy bird. when you get going in flappy bird there really is no sensation like it. it’s like entering a beautiful flow. you know, sometimes i wonder, you know, what’s in that city in the background? what’s in those trees? what’s in those buildings? what are those pixilated clouds made up of? do people occupy those buildings? or is it birds? what’s with the pipes? why is there a gap between each pipe? is this a mario reference? none of this makes sense. the flappy bird is always flapping, it doesn’t eat, just flaps. it has no other form of existence. i wonder, is there only one flappy bird? i get the sense that the bird is disabled, it’s not a regular bird. It’s a flappy bird. tap... tap... tap... tap... tap... tap... flappy bird, flappy bird tap and the bird goes up don’t tap and the bird goes down you must produce some sort of force, you have to partake in the universe, you have to put your own will on to the game. the game can’t play itself, you cannot simply be a voyeur in flappy bird. you must participate. i got a flappy bird medal i don’t know why i only got ten... what does that mean? what is a medal? you can rate the game and view your score in flappy bird. clash of clans up ahead download from iTunes it says but why would you stop playing flappy bird to click on the ad? i bet many people who meant to click pause clicked the ad. that’s why pause is up there. that’s why the ad is up there. the creator of flappy bird is a billionaire. good for him. he taught us how to flap. game over it says, but we all know it’s not. babe, the game has just begun. is there anyone watching the flappy bird? maybe the flappy bird is in a competition. or is it just living life? who’s making him do this? couldn’t it go in the other direction with less pipes? maybe. maybe he could just sit in the trees. but, no. this bird is daring, bold. it wants to live life and take huge risks. it is a beautiful creature. it is a flappy bird. what kind of flappy bird? what kind of bird? it has big eyes... it looks kind of like the head of a duck or some sort of bug. not really much of a bird, but he’s our bird. he’s a good hero, an orphan if you will. someone you can empathize with. my best score is 14 i’m not even a pro. i’ve seen people go up to a hundred and that’s probably not even a lot. i’ve only started playing though so i don’t feel too bad about it. i mean, some people take to flappy bird right away while others struggle, like myself, to get only 14. i’m gonna pause it just to see what it’s like to have flappy on pause. alright, there it is. there is a button that says menu, which just brings you back to the start... never click menu mainly, my biggest problem is going up and hitting the pipe i’m under because i’m preparing for the next pipe. what does this tell us about life? maybe we should all make sure the task at hand is done before fully committing to the next task. a fresh zero up at the top one two three four five six now dead visions of flappy bird all in my head oops died. flappy bird/happy bird it’s a pun “please, challenge me more. more pipes, more variation, please, flappy bird” that is what a truly great man would say now you can have the flappy bird on your iPhone or your iPad. i think i might download it for the iPad too think hard about flappy bird, everyone. game over it says. simple directions they give you, they just say tap. they just say tap. they aren’t forcing you to play this game. yet you play. yet you play. it’s because the game is life. it’s joy and it’s bliss. going through pipes is pure bliss. getting hit with a pipe is agony. the drama of this game is almost perfection… close to perfection. you flap along on a never ending, never slowing path. this path is time itself. the time stream never stops and you must make distinctive taps along the way. these taps are the decisions you make along the flow of time. the decisions either cause progress or failure. flappy bird. because it flaps, and it’s happy. if you look closely at the way it’s spelled, the f and the l look like an H. sometimes you only get one… sometimes you only go through once. happens to even the best players. when you start thinking too hard about flappy bird and start getting too serious about the game that’s when you start screwing up more. it’s a flow, it’s a beautiful flow you have to find it. you have to find the groove in yourself. when will i stop? that’s the question, when does it end? when do you get sick of flappy bird? flappy bird is life condensed into its purest form. a flappy bird is a happy bird and a dead bird is dead. it tells you to tap it with your finger but i tap it with my thumb. hmmm. maybe on the iPad i’ll tap it with my finger. my pointer finger. ah, sometimes you just want to land right in the pipe. that would be great. in flappy bird youre only trying to beat yourself really. sometimes you don’t make it to the first pipe you just land fall flat on your face. but youre just trying to beat your own previous score and i’ve seen people, after they beat their own score they get suicidal, they don’t care anymore. as long as they get passed their score, they’re willing to take a break. that’s not what you should be doing you should try harder after you beat your score. or just keep the flow going like i said because if you try hard that’s when you die hard in flappy bird
