sportyguy.info/2014/11/heads-up-battle-pss-vs-rms.html Heads-Up Battle: Philippine Sports Stadium vs. Rizal Memorial Stadium The Azkals are in the AFF Suzuki Cup semifinals again! A 4-0 victory against Indonesia secured the Philippines spot in the Final Four. The question now is on where the Azkals will play their home leg of the two-game series. Two years ago, the Rizal Memorial Stadium was packed to the rafters in the Azkals semis game against Singapore. But now, a new sports complex in Bocaue sprouted, the Ciudad de Victoria, where the Philippine Sports Stadium lies. Lets take a look at the two arenas that could possibly host an AFF Suzuki Cup game as soon as December 6. Tale of the Tape Name: Rizal Memorial Stadium Also Known As: Rizal Memorial, RMS Claim to Fame: 1991 and 2005 SEA Games, a bunch of UFL games, AFF Suzuki Cup Rizal-Memorial-Sports-Complex-top-view The Rizal Memorial Stadium has been a witness for the Azkals rise to Southeast Asian soccer dominance. However, one should realize that the stadium has been there even before the school heads of La Salle, which is just at the back of the sports complex, thought of expanding its university to what it is now. The Philippine Sports Commission made some initiative by upgrading the pitch into an artificial turf, but, as far as the rehabilitation of Rizal Memorial is concerned, it should not stop there. Another thing: while its the peoples choice as the preferred place since its just at the heart of Manila City, the ambiance in the intersection of Taft and Ocampo Avenues is not that pleasing to me. Dont get me wrong here, but its kinda strange since La Salle is there. But as long as youre willing to watch the game, you have to brave the conditions.
